Comment Policy

Comments should appear inline with the post in the details view as soon as you post them. Comment moderation is not enabled on the site, however I do receive an e-mail informing me of every comment posted to the site, with the option to delete the comment or to delete the comment and ban the IP address of the commenter from further commenting. Commenters are solely responsible for the content of their own comments.

I require the e-mail address of every commenter. This MUST be a real e-mail address. If it's not, I will delete the comment. I do not allow anonymous commenting. You and You Alone are responsible for the content of your comments. If you cannot provide a VALID way for me to contact you, then don't bother commenting. Violations of this policy will result in the deletion of your comment, and the banning of your I.P. address. If I ban your I.P. address, you will not be able to comment, or to send trackbacks from that address.

I reserve the right to delete comments that in my opinion contain spam or obscenity. You do not have to agree with what I post and I encourage dissent, but I would appreciate it if you avoid ad hominem attacks or flamewars in the comment threads. Anonymous commenting has been disabled. I will delete comments that contain personal attacks, spam and what I otherwise deem to be unacceptable.

I am sure that you have seen it on other weblogs and it applies here: You don’t have First Amendment rights on any blog, other than your own. If you don't like my policy on comments, feel free to start your own weblog and establish your own policy.

I will ban commenters that I repeatedly find offensive.

Trackback Policy

If you have linked to a post on my website and would like a reciprocal link, I am happy to provide you with one. Each post on the weblog includes a trackback URL that you can ping to request a trackback link. Trackbacks should appear inline immediatly when you track back to a post.

The trackback facility on this site filters trackbacks for spam. I receive an e-mail for every trackback ping received by the site, with the option to delete the trackback or to delete the trackback and ban the IP address of the poster from further trackbacks or comments. Trackback pings for URLs that do not reference the permalink of the post being pinged will be rejected immediately.

If your trackback is to a site I deem to be unacceptable (pornographic, pharmaceutical spam, etc.) I will not only delete your trackback, I will ban your IP address from posting trackbacks or comments in the future.

Privacy Policy

This site keeps track of the IP address of every visitor. Some third party services used by this site provide geocoding information for IP addresses, and this site collects that data. The geocoding data is used to provide return visitors to the site with weather forecasting links, and to gain a rough idea of the geographic popularity of the site. Geocoding data associated with IP addresses will not be used in any other way or shared with third parties other than those parties that collected it, without prior notice given through changes to this policy.

This site also collects user names, and e-mail addresses whenever users post comments or sign up for membership. E-mail addresses collected by this site may be used to contact you in response to your comments, or in relation to your site membership. E-mail addresses will not be shared with others or published on the site, except in accordance with a request by law enforcement officials. No other uses of these e-mail addresses will be made by the owner or other users of the site.

This site also collects website URLs when users post links using the trackback facility, and optionally when users post comments. The URLs provided will be used to verify trackbacks include a reference to the posts on this site. URLs provided are published on the site and provide a link back to the website of the user posting the comment or trackback.

Persistent cookies are used by this site for the convenience of commenters. The cookies contain the commenters name, e-mail address, and web site URL if provided. These cookies are not used to track visitors to the site, but they may be used to grant users a more personalized experience when using the site. If you do not wish to receive cookies from this site, you may set your browser to reject them without adversely affecting the performance of the site, other than losing the personalized experience.

Other non-persistent cookies are used by the site for maintenance of session data. These non-persistent cookies are destroyed at the end of your browser session.
