This is not a site about me
I’m thankful for a lot this year.
I started a new job in May.
I had my grandkids for a visit over the summer.
I moved into a new (to me) house at the end of summer.
As has been the case for 27+ years I’ve had the love of a wonderful woman.
Despite a horrible accident my son is still alive and well.
I’m thankful for all this and more. And most of all, I am thankful for the grace of God by which I’ve been saved.

Last night my wife was sitting out behind our house and noticed an orange glow to the east. She went out to the front of the house and saw that there was a wildfire on Antelope Island. Reports vary saying that the fire affected between 300 and 7,000 acres. Read more

I’ve often seen this short passage of scripture used to admonish Christians to take care with the things they believe, and that’s a good thing. Jesus and the Apostles all warned us that false teachers would try to lead us astray. If you really want to know the truth about the gospel of Christ there’s only one guaranteed source and that’s the word of God. Test everything about doctrine or the gospel against scripture, whether it’s the message from your pastor, the words of your favorite spiritual leader, or especially something you read about spiritual matters on the Internet.

When people die, it’s not uncommon to hear people say of the deceased “He was a good man.” When they’re not reporting on the latest political infighting, or the most recent scandalous celebrity behavior, the major media like to present stories of how some people work hard to help others – such as Mother Theresa, Doctors Without Borders and the like.
