Fantasy Faire time again…

Today is the last full day I’m at home, and also the first day of the local renaissance and fantasy faire – this time held in Bonney Lake. This weekend’s theme? Pirates.

OK… the whole stripy sock thing and pirates has little to do with the renaissance… but everything to do with fantasy, and it is a fantasy faire as well as a renaissance festival.
My wife got this party started, giving me the cod pants and the shirt for father’s day. I bought the captains jacket last weekend, and I had the hat for some time. I also picked up the stripy socks and a few accessories for my ring belt last weekend.
I had originally planned on chain for the weekend. I even shipped it home just in case. Well, it didn’t go completely to waste. My son wore the hauberk.

Of course, the fair Sidney wasn’t quite in character, so we just had to get her proper attire. They say that dead men tell no tales, so the guy with his arm draped across my shoulder isn’t likely to tell people how we turned such a dainty lass into a pirate wench…

As I’m sure you are aware, pirates aren’t the most reliable of people… but I did get pulled onto stage for a children’s show (it’s for the children) put on by Robin Hood and Maid Marion. Being the piratey scoundrel that I am I was perfect for the role of the evil knight that killed St. George (that’ll larn ye, English!).

All in all, a fun day at the faire.

Tomorrow the Wizard Delta has threatened to send me back to the briny deeps of Salt Lake. Off to the dungeon with me!
