Going Coastal

As you know if you read my last post, I celebrated my 50th birthday and my 18th wedding anniversary recently. Part of that celebration included a trip to the Oregon coast.

We stayed in Lincoln City (near where my in-laws live). But, that wasn’t the only part of the coast we went to. The picture above was taken in Depoe Bay, the “whale watching capitol of the world.” While we were there looking out at the ocean Betty asked when the whale watching season started. She asked because she saw some unusual spray out about four to five hundred yards off shore. It turned out to be a small pod of Gray Whales. Wouldn’t you know it? We got “fluked.”
Back at the hotel we went out onto our patio and watched the sun set.
As it came closer to sunset, the colors got more interesting. The sunburst patter in the sky made by the cloud’s shadows were fun to watch too.

All in all, it was a great way to spend an evening.
That’s not all we did on our trip. We also laid back, watched a few movies, read a couple of books and went to a car show. Tomorrow I’ll post a few shots of some of the cool rides I saw at the show, including a great looking ‘33 Ford. These keep me inspired for that day when I can start my own project… but that’s a topic for another post.

 | I love spending time on that portion of the Oregon Coast. There is so much to see and do.
My sister was down whale watching. Just recently as well. What incredible creatures.
Nice Pictures. |

 | We still miss the Northwest. The sunsets over the strait from the west side of Whidbey Island were like the one's pictured, amazing! And sometimes you could see the whales from Fort Casey and Fort Ebey. Some afternoons with the kids would be flying kites and whale watching at Fort Casey. The kids loved it! |
