For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 “Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what we may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty. The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”

Going Coastal

Published Sun, Sep 20 2009 7:22 PM

As you know if you read my last post, I celebrated my 50th birthday and my 18th wedding anniversary recently. Part of that celebration included a trip to the Oregon coast.

Spray on the rocks

We stayed in Lincoln City (near where my in-laws live). But, that wasn’t the only part of the coast we went to. The picture above was taken in Depoe Bay, the “whale watching capitol of the world.” While we were there looking out at the ocean Betty asked when the whale watching season started. She asked because she saw some unusual spray out about four to five hundred yards off shore. It turned out to be a small pod of Gray Whales. Wouldn’t you know it? We got “fluked.”

We got fluked

Back at the hotel we went out onto our patio and watched the sun set.

Ten minutes before sunset

As it came closer to sunset, the colors got more interesting. The sunburst patter in the sky made by the cloud’s shadows were fun to watch too.

Ten minutes before sunset

All in all, it was a great way to spend an evening.

 About five minutes before sunset

That’s not all we did on our trip. We also laid back, watched a few movies, read a couple of books and went to a car show. Tomorrow I’ll post a few shots of some of the cool rides I saw at the show, including a great looking ‘33 Ford. These keep me inspired for that day when I can start my own project… but that’s a topic for another post.
