The Bees of Maggienockater

I believe I mentioned that I’ve picked up a few new activities. One of them, which I’ve remarked on before is Scottish Country Dancing. My wife and I joined the Plateau Scottish Country Dancers last fall, and we’ve been learning what we can, in preparation for the highland games this summer. On Monday night, my wife wasn’t feeling well, so she didn’t go, but I did, and I took the video camera along to record our lessons/practice session.
Here then, is one of the dances we’re learning (emphasis on learning), the Bees of Maggienockater…

 | Well, it certainly looks like fun, and not as hard on the old knees as some dancing. Of course, I hark back to my childhood attending square dance experiences (heck, we were schooled in 'em... in school for heaven's sake! *heh*), since they were pretty much of the same family of dancing (and sharing at least some of the roots of this style through families of Irish, English and Scottish country folk dance). Although *sigh* with my net connection serving up some stuttering of streaming video today, it did take a while to view it. :-) |
