I blame global warming

This is the latest I personally have ever seen it snow in Washington. Well, except for a few years ago when I ran into a snow-shower on Tiger Mountain in June.
I love snow, especially when I’m watching it from indoors and don’t have to drive anyplace. Sidney loves it too. Earlier today she was out on the deck throwing handfuls of snow for fun.

It didn't take too long for those fat flakes of snow (more like clumps falling from the sky) to stick to the rooftops and the lawn. I'm just glad they didn't stick to the streets.

 | I hate snow! Growing up in the Rockies at 8,000ft and having a driveway over 100yds long makes every snow storm a nightmare. I moved to the NW to get away from snow.
It is pretty to watch but I don't watch anything that lasts more then 8hrs.
I still remember St. Helen's Ash. The Snow Storm that just wouldn't ever go away. At least it was warm. |

I have a love-hate relationship with snow (Yeh, snow seems to have a personality, hence "relationship").
I love the look of fresh-fallen snow, the hush that seems integral to its falling (well, except in blizzard conditions accompanied by fierce winds), and the crisp bite of fresh snow on face and hands.
All up to that point where... the fresh-fallen snow is no longer pristine, the "hush" of freshly falling snow becomes the whine of tires of those who have no clue how to drive in the stuff (often accompanied by the sound of *slide-CRASH!*heh*), and frrrrrrostbite. ;-)
But the thing I love most about snow is that around here it just doesn't take much to close things down. My Wonder Woman usually gets a day or more of holiday, and things are usually slow enough for me to take those days with her. Nice. (Of course, in her job, she has to make those days up later, but still, an unexpected break is nice.) |

 | You can keep it, Down here in Houston if it snows the folks who drive, the same ones who haven't figured out how to drive when it rains, they make life a real exciting place. I park my work truck up in the driveway and wait until it clears. We have had snow maybe three or four times in the past 15-20 years, and even then it was only a light dusting most of the time. We did have an ice storm one year, beautiful but even more hazardous. We lost a huge Live Oak tree in the front yard when the weight of the ice split it down the middle; took me the better part of two days to cut up and then chip the limbs. |

 | My wife is in Puyallup tending to affairs after her mother passed in February. One of her sisters lives in rural Arlington. On the phone last night she said Everett/Arlington got about seven inches of snow. Puyallup got a couple and it did melt off. Brother-in-law said the snow further north stayed.
I remember in 79 and 80, when I was at NAS Whidbey, the base was closed on occasion due to heavy snow. Both major gates were at the bottom of a hill.
Snowfall still seems to confuse the natives, even though they know it can happen. Usually at the wrong time. And don't even try Snoqualmie Pass because of the Eastsiders headed to the ski areas. |
