Obama on the wrong side of history
Published Thu, Jan 29 2009 5:37 PM
In his inaugural address, President Obama had this to say…
“To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history;”
I have to wonder… was he listening to himself? Or was it “Just words. Just speeches.”? How about this statement, from the New York Post (emphasis added).
President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
Of course, not everything that President Obama wants to get done is worth doing. But I guess if you say that, President Obama will try to silence your dissent.

 | Do What I Say, Not What I Do.
Could become the motto of the president. |
Perri Nelson responded with: Hypocrisy
 | Finding and pointing out number forty four's hypocrisy is almost as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. It's actually pretty sad. I figured I'd hit this one instead of going after the promises not to allow lobbyists into his administration, followed by offing eight of fourteen positions to lobbyists. |

 | Once again, "sound and fury, signifying nothing" could be woven with "all sizzle, no steak" for a new motto for The Union Under Emperor Obama. |
Stanford Matthews responded with:
 | People say things for many reasons. Politicians are no different. For instance, Obama gets going on references to history and former Presidents for the ears of those who are buying the hope and change mantra. He makes 'cute' little comments like those about giving DC that 'flinty toughness of Chicago' for weather and avoiding school closings. Of course he forgot to mention his private school girls stayed home while public school students were only delayed.
And then there is the Limbaugh reference to annoy his opposition and fire up his base. It's all politics. I'm more concerned about the 'loyal' opposition.
The GOP made something of their party line (losing) vote against the stimulus in the House. What did they say about rubber stamping nominees like the tax evading Geithner? Will Daschle get a pass? Did Hillary really violate the 'ineligibility clause'?
To me those things are the meat and potatoes. What Obama or any other POL says is of less importance. |
