White stuff on the ground

Normally, snow happens here once a year. We've done a little better than that this year. Temperatures have been hovering around freezing for the last couple of days, and this is what I saw this morning when I managed to pump enough caffeine into my system to notice my surroundings.
It wasn't a lot of snow, maybe a quarter inch or so that stayed on the ground. I guess I'll have to brush it off the car and wear a coat on the way to the doctor's office this morning.
At least it's not pouring. I almost thought of filing this under “global warming.” Most of you would get it, but the people attracted to the tag might not.

Stanford Matthews responded with:
 | Had my fill of snow by the end of December. It's a tough call which of two Wx scenarios are preferred in my little part of the planet; subzero temps or record breaking snowfall?
Say, is that a PT Cruiser I see? Cannot ID the truck but guess it's not full size. Perhaps a Ranger or some such? |
Perri Nelson responded with:
 | Yes, that's my PT Cruiser. I've had it since October of 2000, and paid a premium to get it. Now they're common as dirt around here. The truck is my neighbors light duty Chevy. My truck is inside the fence, where you can't see it. It's a Ford F350 1/2 ton job. I used to use it to tow my racecar, but now it's only used for dump runs. |
Stanford Matthews responded with:
 | Yes, I remember the 'limited edition' marketing they did on the PT at first. Know someone else who was in the same position. I liked the retro idea and from what I can tell its a pretty decent vehicle.
An F350, with your racing interests, etc., I should have known. :-)
Always thought I would be content with the climate of the NW where it seems rain is the only constant disturbance. The temperature range suits me. Ah, but alas, I have done all my wandering and am permanently planted in the upper midwest with its cross between frozen tundra and tropical rain forest. |

 | Nice, mild weather, Perri. The first 1/4" of precip on the ground this A.M. was ice, here in America's Third World County. The rest was sleet (only another 1/4"-1/2" depending on where measured). The dogs' water bowls (each about 1/2 gallon) were solid ice this A.M. and both of the Boys' outer coats had icicles to drip on the floor when fed this A.M. (undercoats were dry as a bone--nice thick "overcoats" the guys wear!). Son&Heir picked up two BIG bags of the Boys' fav dry dog food for extra weight for his trip back north to his own bed this morning, and the Boys were indeed glad to see some extra chow.
Temps got up to a high of 17 degrees fahrenheit this afternoon, and more precip's expected this evening.
Winter has finally shown its true face here.
Enjoy your snow! |

 | its coming our way tonight Perri!! |

 | I hate snow.
I have spent a good deal of my life at high elevation and year around snow flurries. Now I live in the Pacific NW and only expect to see one or two days a year of the stuff.
This year with global warming and all, I have had to suffer through over a dozen snow days and hours of shovel time. I had my fill, enough is enough.
For those of you who like snow come get the half inch or so I have right now. |
Machiavelli responded with:
 | All this global warming this week in Cincinnati is killing me!
If I have to shovel anymore global warming, I'll scream. |
