Today is my dad's 70th birthday. We celebrated it here at home on the 12th of last month because he was visiting from Florida. We used cupcakes instead of a regular cake, but he got what he wanted, a lemon meringue pie. For dinner we had steak and king crab, together with twice baked potatoes and a whole bunch of other good stuff.
Personally, I think I got the better end of the deal because he was here visiting at my house! His visit was a time that I guarantee you we won't forget.
He's come out to visit us before. A few years ago he and his wife Pam came out and visited while they were on their way to Vancouver British Columbia. We took a trip out to Grand Coulee Dam when they were here that time.
He's the man that raised me up from a child, and I'm grateful for it. He instilled strong conservative principles in me, along with a love for my country.
I know that I was a serious trial for him growing up, especially in my late teens and early twenties. If it weren't for his support and understanding then, I probably wouldn't be who I am today.
He's a real man in a world that could use a few more.
Happy Birthday Dad, and may you have many more!
