For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 “Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what we may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty. The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”

Of course, the Ubuntu distro of Linux--and others--has its own lil set of gotchas. Fortunately, they're not killer gotchas such as Windows has been plagued with for years. (Every other system update, for example, seems to screw up midi or video or some other media feature. Usually simple fixes, but learning the simple fixes reminds me of Clausewitz: "In war, everything is simple, but the simplest thing is difficult." *heh*

Actually, resetting media prefs isn't ll that difficult, but learning new ways of doing things can sometimes be difficult for old dogs.

I've actually had many fewer issues--even with the command line learning curve (the 'nix command line ain't your ganny's DOS)--with Ubuntu than with most fresh installs of new Windows versions, and I VERY much appreciate the way it handles permissions. A nice middle ground between a wide-open default XP install and the incessant nagging of Vista. Other things are big pluses, IMO, but stability, permission controls, general security, etc., are all biggies for me.
