On Sunday (September 3) I went with Lucas and his uncle Stan to visit some tide pools. We were going to a section of beach on the Oregon coast that we had never been to, and ended up turning off just a bit early. The beach we ended up at didn't have any tide pools, but it was still fun.

While Lucas was busy playing with the surf, Stan noticed a white "dot" that kept appearing off in the distance. It didn't behave like a whitecap, and it kept re-appearing at intervals in pretty much the same place. It was too far out to see any detail at all, but I figured my video camera might be able to show us something.

This is what I managed to capture on video. Sorry about the poor video quality, but I didn't have my tripod, and this was at the maximum zoom level for my camera. Anyway, it looks like we saw an Orca feeding…

We did eventually get to the tide pools, I'll post video of that another time.
