NASCAR Speedpark, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

This morning Lucas and I went to play at NASCAR® Speedpark in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Thanks to a wonderful circumstance we were given comp tickets, and saved the price of admission for an all-day pass. We had a great time.

One of the first things we did was go over to the "Young Champions" track to race. It was pretty fun, but it was also a hot day so we decided to go inside for a bit. On the way in, I snapped this picture of Lucas with the cell phone (sorry, I don't have a higher resolution image...)

After that we went to "The Intimidator", which was supposed to be one of the more challenging courses. That one wasn't quite as fun as the first one, because the cars were slower… maybe we just aren't used to "restrictor plate" racing. We went back inside for a bit and Lucas took this picture of me.

I suppose if I have to have my picture taken next to a NASCAR car it should be Dale Earnhart's car. After all, I may drive a Chrysler and a Dodge on the street, but I do drive a Chevy on the racetrack :)

We went back outside for another run on the Young Champion's track, then back inside to run on the NASCAR® Silicon Motor Speedway, which is a really fun driving simulator. We had a good laugh watching some of the people racing before us and then it was our turn. We didn't do too badly, but Lucas did get a bit aggressive on the first lap and ran me into a spin. I lost ten places because of that and it was really hard to get any of them back :)

Then it was back outside for a couple of runs on the SlideWays track. That was probably the best of the kart tracks there. The carts were faster than on the other tracks, and there were a lot more turns to make the racing interesting.

Finally, after a decent afternoon of kart racing we decided to head home and for the showers. It's off to Dixie Stampede tonight! The South is gonna rise again!

Update: I had the name of the NASCAR® Speedpark wrong… for some reason I thought it was NASCAR® Speedway. Silly me.

The Dixie Stampede was a lot of fun. Good food, and a rowdy good time. Tomorrow it's off to Cherokee, North Carolina.
