“Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what we may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty.
The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”— Perri Nelson, February 9, 2010

Thirteen Things about BlogShares
- "BlogShares is a fantasy stock market for weblogs. Players get to invest a fictional $500, and blogs are valued by incoming links." Each blog is initially valued at $1,000.00, and it's outgoing links at $1,100.00 divided by the number of outgoing links, so some incoming links are worth more than others. Only links to and from other blogs in the index count.
- At the present moment, there are 229 BlogShares trillionaires.
- The wealthiest player in the game is AXA with B$293,034,475,188,657.00
- There are 2226 ranked players using the composite ranking system. I'm ranked #69 (at the moment, rankings are updated every three hours).
- BlogShares maintains the largest hand-edited index of blogs on the Internet (or so I'm told).
- Players gain Karma by voting blogs into "Industries". This is one how blogs are categorized in the index.
- There are over 6,000 industries or categories managed in the BlogShares index.
- Players gain Sigma by adding blogs to the index, reporting title changes, or reporting blogs as "dead".
- For the purposes of the BlogShares index, "dead blogs are those which have had no new posts in the last six months, return a server error or 404, or which have been pronounced dead, moved, or discontinued by blog's owner." "Private" or friends-only blog, are also considered "dead".
- At the time of this posting, there are 6,754,081 blogs in the BlogShares index.
- You can be a free member of BlogShares just by registering. Free members are limited to 20 shares transactions per day.
- You can be a premium member for $15.00 per year, or $2.95 a month. Premium members have lots of advantages over non-premium members, including unlimited daily transactions.
- BlogShares is probably the most addicting Internet game I have ever played.

Monday... um... er... I mean Thursday

After the neighborhood fireworks celebration I was exhausted last night/this morning. Lit fireworks until almost midnight. The neighborhood sounded like a combat zone, or rather like what I imagine one might sound like.
Wow.
After yesterday, it feels like a Monday. You know what I mean I'm sure. The time off from work, the late night, the party with friends.
Of course my dad always told me that there were only three days in the week, and usually only two: Mondays; Holidays; and Paydays. Any day that you have to work is a Monday. Any day that you don't have to work is a Holiday. A Payday is any day you get paid, but it can be either a Monday or a Holiday. Most Paydays are also Mondays, but the money brightens them up a bit.
