For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.”

Another busy Saturday

The family and I started the day by going to the 61st Annual Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering. We had a good time, but we had to cut the day a bit short, there was just too much stuff to do. Our original plan was to watch my wife's friend Cindy participate in some Scottish Country Dancing, but we simply weren't able to connect.

Anyway, after watching a bunch of pipe and drum teams, touring around and checking out all of the Scottish apparel, and spending loads of money on all sorts of souvenirs, it was time to go pick up a pair of seatbelts for my stepson's car. We just managed to get them before the place closed.

Once I got home, I checked them out to make sure we had the right ones (we did), and it was off to the track to watch my car race. If you recall from last time, the car's performance was off by over a second.

John and Cal were going to rebuild the fuel pump, but re-build kits are backordered all over the place, so they bought a Holley blue pump to replace the one we had. Then they went to change the jets in the carburetor and found bits of plastic bag! After getting rid of the debris (how did it get in their in the first place I wonder), they expected better performance out of the car.

Well… the performance was a little better… but not much better. The best run of the night was a 12.48… still ¾ of a second slower than the car should be. Cal and John adjusted the timing. When eliminations came they dialed a 12.40… and the car ran a 12.75…

So once again, the car's performance wasn't up to snuff. The current suspect is the carburetor. Cal's going to overhaul it this week. Another possibility is that with the extra battery in the car we're getting some strange performance out of the ignition. Some new parts are coming in and will be replaced this week.

Our buddy Roger didn't do quite as badly. He at least managed to get past first round. He ran against a very quick very modified Volkswagen.

Altogether it was a fairly full day.
