For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.”

Have you ever wondered how fast your connection really is?

I have.

When I first signed up for broadband Internet, it seemed really fast, especially when compared to the dialup I was using. Technology has advanced, ISPs change all the time, and sometimes the access points change.

For a long time, I was getting 3mbps downloads and 1.5mbps uploads... at least that was what was advertised. My ISP told me then that as more people signed up, those speeds would degrade, and they did.

Then my ISP was bought by another company. They throttled everything back to 1.5mbps downloads and 750kbps uploads. A few months later they restored the original speed... and started advertising that they had doubled the speed available to subscribers. Of course, I was right back where I had started, so I wasn't impressed.

Even so, they keep working on it. Today, while playing on Blog$hares I ran across a blog that had a link to Speedtest.net. It looked interesting, so I followed it. Here's my results.

Not bad... at least locally. Going across the country things are a bit different.

Still it's an improvement over how things were a few years ago. How's your ISP doing?
