By some strange and happy coincidence I came out to Tennessee on the weekend of the 33rd annual Street Rod Nationals South, the regions largest and most spectacular street rod show. It's happening Tomorrow, the 4th and the 5th, and the 6th in Chilhowee Park, Knoxville, Tennessee.
I had no idea this would be happening when I came out here. I'm going to spend the morning checking out the show, looking at cool cars and taking a few photos of some of the cars. If there's anything I think is cool it's a well built street rod, and this is an opportunity that's too good to pass up.
Honestly, I didn't plan it this way. On our way into Knoxville this morning we saw a few street rods driving on the highway. My aunt remarked that it was the first weekend in May. So my mom went to look up the event.
Betty and I have been talking about making a move out to this part of the country for a while now. I've been a bit reluctant, but I've agreed with her that it would be nice for her to have the opportunity to see some of the history on the Eastern side of the country.
Street rods in May. Three major drag racing events within driving distance annually. Mountains, if not quite so large as at home. Trees of all sorts, except there doesn't seem to be an abundance of firs and cedars. Warm weather.
I could get to like Tennessee. As long as they have snow in the wintertime too. I'm told that they do.

And I forgot to mention the birds. Cardinals. Blue Jays. Some yellow bird that sort of looks like a cardinal, but I don't think it is. Robins. Very, very colorful birds.
And old stone buildings. Large plots of land with plenty of room between neighbors. Plus, while it's not exactly centrally located on the Eastern half of the country, it's still not too far away from the fun stuff.
