“Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what me may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty.
The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”— Perri Nelson, February 9, 2010

Pro Street 1963 Corvette

The Pro-Street crowd was at the track yesterday too. This is arguably one of the better looking cars from their group. It's a 1963 split-window Corvette.
It runs the quarter mile in 7.2 seconds at 190 mph.
Somehow though, I don't think it gets driven on the streets much.

Roger's 1980 Corvette

One of my friends at the track drives a 1980 Corvette, both to and from the track, and on the track. This one's had a few modifications, like a seriously beefed up rear-end and sports a chevy 383 under the hood with an MSD Digital 6 ignition.
Roger and I have raced against each other for a few years. He's been in the top ten in points at the track several times.
This is the first year I've seen his car run in the 11s.
Oh, by the way, those patches of bright blue? Those are racer's tape. He puts that there to protect the paint from rock chips and rubber flecks that are thrown up by the tires.

Yellow 1979 Sportsman Corvette

One of the better sportsman racers at Pacific Raceways traded in his El Camino for a mostly stock 1979 Corvette. It has the original engine, but it's got an Air Gap manifold that's just a bit too big for the engine. The hood has been altered a bit (underneath) so that more air will flow out of the engine compartment, taking away some of the heat. It's also been lowered, and given a bit of a rake, and a nice looking set of wheels.
Like most mid to late 70's Corvettes, it's not a screamer. This one does the quarter mile in just a shade over 15 seconds, but it looks like a dream, both inside and out.
