For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 “Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what we may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty. The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”

The road to Hell

As I understand it, there's a proposed tax on barbeque usage to reduce the emission of CO2 from the burning of all that charcoal coming up in Europe. Apparently a 20 Euro fee for a summer's worth of barbeque. And get this... It's going to be enforced by helicopter overflight.

I wonder how much CO2 will be emitted into the atmosphere by those helicopters? This isn't really about global warming is it?

Is Congress really considering a nationwide ban on incandescent light bulbs by 2017? To reduce energy consumption? To reduce the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere by our coal fired electrical plants?

Supposedly we'll have to replace all of our incandescent light bulbs with compact florescents. Never mind that no compact florescent bulbs are manufactured in the U.S. Never mind that every compact florescent light bulb contains toxic mercury vapor, which will be release into the air if they're broken, or into our landfills when they're disposed of.

And never mind that China, the biggest manufacturer of these things will need to build more power plants to power the factories that will be required to meet the ten-fold increase in demand for them. Or that China's power plants are coal fired. Which means even more CO2 will be dumped into the atmosphere - by a nation that's totally exempt from the Kyoto protocol in the first place.

This isn't really about global warming either, is it?

Environmentalism isn't really about the environment after all, is it? Neither of these two ideas will bring any benefit to the environment, yet they're both being pushed in the name of the environment.

Both of these ideas mean higher taxes or higher costs to the consumer in the name of protecting the environment. Both of these ideas limit freedom. Both of these ideas are fueled by "good intentions".

Nice paving stones.

Its about taxing us and growing the size of government. The underlying message in all of what has been proposed by the "believers", is, more government, more controls, more taxation. Thank God there isnt a stupidty tax or the government would be flooding with income, especially from themselves!
