Ferdinand T. Cat has an excellent post that describes how to do the whole linkfest thing. The Art of Linkfesting (Linkfest Haven Deluxe).

What you did was submit your post to the list of linkfests, using my website's name. I don't think that's what you wanted to do, since your post doesn't appear to be a linkfest. What you probably wanted to do was promote your post on linkfests like this one.

To do that, you should use the linkfest chooser. This tool presents you with a listbox full of the names of sites that are hosting linkfests. It's a multiple-selection list box, so you can choose as many linkfests as you like. You can also choose the type of trackback tool you will use to ping the linkfests. When you submit the form, the resulting page will present you with a block of HTML code that you can copy and paste into your blog post. This HTML contains links to each of the linkfests you've selected to participate in. It's raw HTML so be sure you use a the correct input mode in your post editor. If you follow any of the trackbacks linked to this post, you will see an example of what the HTML looks like at the bottom of each post.

The results page will also present you with another multi-select listbox. This listbox contains the trackback URIs that you need to ping with your trackback tool. If you're using Haloscan, pick about four at a time to ping. Halsocan occasionally has problems pinging five posts at a time (five is the maximum it allows by the way).

There is occasionally a third block on the results page. This contains the links that the linkfest chooser could not find a valid trackback URI for. Some sites that host linkfests use a CAPTCHA image or other bot blocker to prevent spam pings. You have to visit those sites to get the actual trackback URL to use.

I hope this helps. I'll ask Ferdinand's pet human Bruce to delete your link in the linkhaven. Anyone that tries to use it will have a link to your post, but they'll get this post's trackback URI. Since their post won't have a reference to this one, their ping to my post will fail.
