“Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what we may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty.
The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”— Perri Nelson, February 9, 2010

So as I understand it we should all be going through football withdrawal soon... oh wait... the Pro Bowl is Saturday. I've never watched a pro-bowl. I probably won't watch this one either.
Ehren Watada's court martial began today. It's expected to be over by the end of the week. This should be an open and shut case. I hope they throw the book at him.
The Seattle Supersonics are continuing their extortionist ways. Now it looks like people in King County are going to have to pay higher taxes just to support these multi-millionaires who want to live off the public dole.
Rudy Giuliani has filed his campaign papers for the 2008 presidential race. He may be good in a crisis, but he's too liberal for me. I'm still looking at Tancredo in '08.

An "original" superbowl commercial?

I think not. This video appeared as part of one of the commercials during the Superbowl on 2/4/2007. The funny thing is, I received a copy of this in email on August 15, 2005.
My wife didn't remember it, but as soon as I saw the commercial I recognized it. I remembered that I had a copy of it on my hard drive at work.
So here it is:
I wonder how many people that saw the commercial thought that this was an original commercial? I wonder how many people that saw the commercial recognized it from back then.
Update: iFilm has the actual commercial. From the comments posted with it, it looks like very few people remember this from back then. Maybe one or two out of the first 90-odd comments.

Comment Spammers

What an annoyance.
You'd think that after banning a few IP addresses they'd get the message.
It doesn't seem to work that way though. They just keep spamming. Whether they're shilling viagra, pornography, or penny stocks, they just keep at it.
I've tried AKismet, and it worked for a while, or at least it seemed to. Now though, I find myself still having to go in and delete comments on a fairly regular basis, despite the anti-spam software.
I'm going to have to revisit the comment module on this site when I get some time. It appears to block some legitimate commenters when it shouldn't and it lets far too many of the spammers through.
The latest round of spammers is just going over the top though. Some "Hillary Ferg" or is it "Bill Ferg" or just "Ferg" was spamming for a while. I think I've finally managed to block them, but I had to go beyond the IP filter to do it. Now though it's "Greg" and the subject of his spam is particularly annoying.
Just like all of the comment spammers, he's hitting "old" posts, frequently the same one. The post content is always the same:
If you wanna stop guestbook spammers just confirm url of this page to <email address of spammer deleted> with subject:ANTISPAM. Thx.
Isn't that the height of hubris? Send me your email address so I will stop spamming you? I guess "Greg" is going to have to get the same treatment.
And I'm going to have to find or write a stronger anti-spam filter.
Anyone got any recommendations?
