uPSIDE DOWN?

Science fiction passes for award winning documentaries in Hollywood these days. That's not much of a surprise. Hollywood has been divorced from reality for decades.

That traitor Lt. Watada had his military trial declared a mistrial a few weeks ago because he claims he never agreed to what he signed. The military has re-filed all of the charges against him, including the ones it agreed to drop in exchange for his signature. His lawyer's new defense is that this constitutes "double-jeopardy". Has anybody asked Alex Trebeck's opinion?

Border patrol agents that try to arrest drug smugglers find themselves in jail for shooting the smuggler. It turns out that the ballistics don't match on their guns and the bullet extracted from the smuggler's thigh. But at least we gave amnesty to another undocumented pharmaceuticals supplier from the south, and put some evil law enforcement personnel behind bars.

Big time professional sports wants public subsidies in addition to the ticket prices, advertising revenues and endorsement money. Politicians call it economic development to pick your pocket and hand the money to multi-millionaires.

West coast politics is about big money. The bigger the bill you can pass off to the taxpayers the better, as long as you don't let them vote on it. Unless of course a bigger fish tells the politicians they have to opt for the lower priced option. Then a vote of the people means something... as long as they vote for the more expensive choice. And a think tank thinks digging a hole under the waterfront is the way to solve the political battle.

Democrats in the House and Senate support the troops. They just don't support giving them reinforcements or equipping them to do the job. They complain about the manipulation of intelligence. They complain about the poor quality of intelligence. They complain about any effort to improve the quality of intelligence gathering.

A woman has a right to choose. As long as nobody helps her to make an informed choice. And as long as she chooses death. Choosing life is politically incorrect. Abstinence doesn't prevent pregnancy. Only abortion does that. Immaculate conception is an everyday thing in the world of the left.

Education spending is at an all time high. Students are getting better grades in ever more complex classes than they did twenty years ago. The tests must be too hard though, because scores keep declining.

Health care is a right, not a privilege. At least that's what the bumper sticker on the car in front of me tells me. I guess that means that the man that worked his butt off to get into college, spent a fortune on tuition and books, because he had to pay out-of-state tuition while an undocumented guest worker paid in state-rates, then worked and spent another fortune to go to medical school, and spent years as a resident wage-slave in the hospital doesn't deserve to see the fruit of his labors, because everyone else has a right to take what he worked so hard to earn.

I wonder how well things will work out. I suppose I've learned the wrong lessons all of my life. I was taught that if you worked hard, went to school, and dedicated yourself to improving your knowledge, abilities and skills that you could succeed. I should have been taught that if you do all those things the government will take a larger share of your earnings from you.

What I should have learned is what is being taught to children all over the world these days. If you work hard to earn a better wage, you're evil. If you work hard to earn more money, you're exploiting the poor. You have to give up your ill gotten gains to ensure equality.

The way to success is to drop out of school and burn out your brain with drugs. Prove that you haven't got enough skill to wipe the excrement off of your backside and the government will provide you with all you need. They'll throw money at you. They'll even help you with your drug habit by supplying free needles, and a place to get strung out.

Have lots of children. It's a good way to get a tax refund larger than the amount they withheld from your wages at McDonalds. Especially if you don't get married.

Oh by the way, it's not a good idea to buy land. If you do, don't you know, the government will just take it away from you and give it to the rich guy down the street that want to build a shopping center or a marina where your house stood.

If they don't knock down your house or your small business to build a freeway, they'll find another way to keep you from enjoying your property. NO! You can't cut down that tree! There's an endangered species of termite that only lives in the trees on your property, so you can't develop it.

It's been a dry summer don't you know. So dry that one day a love-sick forest ranger burnt some love letters and the sparks lit off a conflagration. Oops. Oh my another thousand acres was touched off by lightning.

What do you mean you can't scoop up water from the rivers and lakes nearby to douse the flames? You mean a few fish might die, so we have to let several of our firemen die instead? I guess that proves it. People's lives are worth less to environmentalists than the lives of a few sucker fish.

This is the sort of evil that comes from believing that our rights come from government. This is the sort of evil that arises when government is elevated to the role of absolute moral authority. This is what happens when liberty is replaced by license. This is the world that the left wants.

Before it goes too much further, I'm going to have to do something. In Egypt now bloggers are being put in jail for what they write. That's censorship. The Dixie Chicks claim that they were censored... funny, they weren't put in jail for their commentary, people just decided they weren't interested in buying their Grammy Award winning political commentary.

Well I'm interested in what the blogosphere has to say. I'm so interested that I think I'll open up this post to anybody that has something to say.
