For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.”

Minor site updates

I'm in the middle of a relatively minor site update. I've been working on cleaning up the CSS used on the site and some of my efforts have been successful, but others haven't. I've been testing the new changes in various browsers, and Firefox, Mozilla, Internet Explorer 7, and Opera all seem to render the site the way I want  now.

On Internet Explorer 7, the site should render more cleanly than in the past. The annoying horizontal scroll bar should be gone unless you're using a smaller than usual font size and one of the sidebar images ends up wider than the rest of the sidebar, and the page should render a bit quicker since it doesn't have to re-adjust positions after starting to render the layout.

Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 5.5 still have a minor problem with rendering the sidebar correctly, but it does render, although it appears a bit further to the right than I'd like in both browsers. If you're still using those antiquated browsers, you really should upgrade. This results in a horizontal scroll bar showing up and on Internet Explorer 6, the vertical scroll bars in the blog roll boxes are pretty much obscured unless you scroll the page over a bit.

I've also managed to reduce the size of the main CSS file by about 2 KB. That's not much, but it's something anyway.

All of this is in preparation for March when I release the site's "spring" look. After all, Winter is almost over, so it's time for a seasonal update.
