For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 “The task of statesmanship has always been the re-definition of these rights in terms of a changing and growing social order.”
— Franklin D. Roosevelt (Commonwealth Club Address, 1932)

“Roosevelt was wrong! The principles laid down in the Declaration of Independence are the principles of individual liberty. Our unalienable rights, given to us by God are given to us as individuals. Our rights do not come from society or the government, and they cannot be redefined by politicians. The nature of these rights carries with it the implication of individual responsibility, without which we surrender them.”

Aqua Teen Hunger Force, meet the War on Terror.

In Boston, two men were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and placing a "hoax device" after an advertising stunt that went sour. Little electronic signs with magnetic lights disrupted traffic around the city, and the police blew one of the signs up to make sure they didn't contain electronics.

Turner Broadcasting Systems was using the signs to advertise a particularly noxious and thankfully very short little late night cartoon. Drivers became suspicious, and bridges and roads were closed to investigate.

I'm sure that some on the left will cry foul, saying that the war on terror has "gone too far". I'm waiting to hear that the ACLU is defending TBS and the two men for violating their "freedom of speech".

Supposedly the advertising campaign had been in place for weeks. That hardly excuses where the little signs were placed. Parts of the subway system and a major highway were shut down while police investigated. That's a big traffic nightmare in a city the size of Boston.

All for a silly stunt to advertise a trashy cartoon.

Wild Thing over at the PC Free Zone has more... much more...
