For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 “Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what me may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty. The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”

Something in the water

Well, the power outage only lasted a couple of hours here. There's still no explanation for what caused it. Interestingly enough, I noted earlier that the other neighborhoods that intertwine with ours often are without power while ours is on.

They also suffered from the power outage. Unfortunately for them, their power is still out and may not be back until tomorrow.

While our power is back, and I've got Internet at home, there's a new problem. Our water supply has gone bad. When we run the tap, the water looks bad. Run the tap for a little while and it turns brown.

Yuck! I hope it clears up before morning. I'd hate to take a shower in that muck.

Feelings of powerlessness

Published Thu, Nov 1 2007 12:29 PM

OK, nothing really profound here. Last night, I was tired, so I didn't post my usual Open Trackbacks Post. I was going to do it this morning, but shortly after I woke up our power went out.

There doesn't seem to be any logical reason for the power going down, at least not at first. There wasn't a windstorm last night. In any case, our power supply lines are underground. We seldom lose power due to that sort of problem, although some of the older neighborhoods intertwined with ours do.

My son called me and told me that power was back on at about 11:00AM, so that at least is good news. Internet service was still working too, so he has no excuse not to do his schoolwork.

In the meantime, I am going to leave my existing Open Trackbacks Post up for the rest of the day as the primary "sticky" post. I really can't put up anything serious right now anyway, since I'm at work, and have a lot to do. I'll have a new one for the weekend up tomorrow.

In the meantime, here's a couple of car pictures that I took a few years ago. One is a 1958 Corvette Convertible owned by a couple that are/were members of the same car club I was in. I took this picture in the hotel parking lot where the club stayed on the Cascade Loop tour in 1998.

The other picture is of a nicely flamed street rod that my buddy John and I saw while we were on a trip to watch the drag races the first year that "The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway" opened. I don't know about you, but I just love a well executed flame job.

Have a nice day. Leave a comment if you like the pictures.
