Hate Crimes

Why is it that certain crimes are called "hate crimes" while other crimes are not? If two white men beat up a black man, then chain him to a car and drag him to his death that's a hate crime. I have no problem agreeing with that.

If a group of black men beat up and kill a white man it's an outrage when they are arrested. In fact it's such an outrage that civil rights leaders help to organize protests to have the black men freed.

Isn't racially motivated murder a hate crime no matter the race of the perpetrators or the victims?

Earlier this week I had to participate in a course on harassment. It seems that harassment can be unintentional, but it's still actionable. It's something to do with the "victim" deciding that they're offended.

I seem to remember that for an act to be criminal, there had to be criminal intent. Nowadays though, a person can be accused of "hate speech" for innocent remarks.

Take for example the case of a bright, witty blond woman being interviewed on a relatively minor program. The program's host goes out of his way to back the woman into a corner until she finally makes a remark that can be quickly taken out of context. Soon she's forced onto the defensive and has to explain herself.

When she finally makes a statement of Christian doctrine that has been the position of just about every Christian church for the last 2000 years she's accused of hate speech.

Anne Coulter said that it was her belief that Christianity was the "perfection" of the Jewish religion. What she was saying is nothing less than the truth. Christians today still believe that the people of the Jewish race are God's chosen people.

Christians today believe in the word of God as handed down to Moses and the prophets. They believe the promises in the covenant that God made with Abraham, and they believe that those promises are still binding on God, and on the children of Abraham.

Christians believe that Jesus was the fulfillment of that covenant. Christians believe that Jesus lived a life free from sin, that he fulfilled all of the requirements of the old covenant, that he fulfilled the law and in so doing made the promises of the old covenant binding. Christians believe that Jesus, through his crucifixion paid the blood sacrifice required by the law to wash away sin. With sin washed away, paid for by the death of God's only begotten son, the penalty for sin, death was washed away as well.

Christians believe that God made a new covenant with all of mankind, a fulfillment of the old covenant and a promise of life eternal with God. Christians believe that Jesus was the messiah promised to the Jews, and that one day He will return to institute His kingdom on Earth.

Christians believe that the choice to accept the new covenant is a personal choice, and that it cannot be made through coercion. Christians believe it to be their duty to spread the good news (gospel) of this covenant and offer from God to all who will accept it.

Christians believe that just as Jesus was the fulfillment of the covenant that God made with Abraham, the new covenant is the perfection of that covenant. Christianity is the "perfection" of Judaism.

This is what Ann Coulter was doing when she said the words that so many people are trying to interpret as "hate speech".

Donny Deutsch twisted words and literally badgered Ann Coulter into speaking her beliefs. He did so with malice and intent. That someone like that, who deliberately and maliciously tried to back someone into a corner gets away with being "offended" by the truth, is yet another inversion of reality.

Ann Coulter responded with her sincere beliefs. That's not hate speech. That's love speaking to those that will hear.

The liberals in Oslo have gone mad

Al Gore is this year's co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. It seems that lying and otherwise distorting the truth is the way to win in Oslo. It worked for Arafat, and now it's worked for the author of at least nine inconvenient lies.

The other co-recipient was the International Panel on Climate Change. It seems that unproven, politically motivated pseudo-science is all the rage in Oslo. A consensus of scientists and political hacks, most of whom aren't even in the field of climatology trumps evidence that climate change is not man made.

Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth," a documentary on global warming, won an Academy Award this year and he had been widely expected to win the prize.
"His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change," the citation said. "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."

Perhaps that political activity, those lectures, and his films and books would mean a bit more if our new Nobel laureate practiced what he preaches. It's not the first time the liberals in Oslo have rewarded fraud.

Will we be subjected to another run for the White House now?

Update: It seems that the academy is being asked to rescind the Oscar for "best documentary" since An Inconvenient Truth has been found to be a work of fiction.
