For the last couple of months I've been playing the Blogshares fantasy blog stock market. It's a pretty fun game, once you figure out what you're doing. One of the cool things is to add your blog to the index and to track its valuation. Another cool thing is to buy shares in other peoples blogs and track them.
It's sort of like investing in stocks, but it's all fake money. You can also gamble after a fashion. Blogshares has this thing called "chips". You can get chips lots of different ways, by answering anonymous polls on the site, or by voting on the "industry" that blogs belong to. You can then use the chips for various things, but one of the fun things you can do with them is play "Blogshares Chances".
It costs 10 chips to play, but you can win shares in other blogs, win more chips, or win a commodity called "ideas". That's where the big B$ money is...
Another way you can get chips is to report errors in the Blogshares index. I had no idea that there were so many dead blogs out there. Or that there were so many blogs in totally incomprehensible (to me) languages. Anyway, it's a lot of fun.
And it's an interesting way to find blogs you might not otherwise consider looking at.
This is your open trackbacks post for Tuesday, January 16, 2007. If you have something interesting you'd like to share, feel free to link it here and leave a trackback.
Just remember the trackback policy.
For the best exposure, go to the blogger's oasis and use the linkfest chooser to choose the posts you'd like to hook up with.
