65 years ago today, the United States was attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. That event served as a wake-up call and brought us into World War II. Most of us weren't even born until long after that event.
Five years and a few months ago, the United States was attacked by Al Qaeda using hijacked airliners as missiles that destroyed the two towers of the world trade center in New York, and blew a smoking hole into the side of the Pentagon. That event served as a wake-up call to bring us into the global War on Terror.
Today, let's remember the brave men and women who serve our country in our military, and those brave men and women who gave their lives in her service. They truly deserve our thanks.
December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001 are both days that should remind us that we cannot afford to be complacent. The world has always been a dangerous place, and that's not going to change in our lifetime, or our children's lifetime, or our grandchildren's lifetime.
We don't need to live in fear, but neither should we give up our vigilance. So long as we have brave men and women who love liberty and freedom more than life we have some protection.
That's the primary responsibility of the federal government of the United States. Let's not let it be lost, drowned out by the petty concerns that distract our politicians these days.
Support the troops! And never forget!

I bet you thought it was the policy of the United States NOT to negotiate with terrorists and specifically not to negotiate with Hamas. Apparently the Democrats don't see it that way. I thought the United States would not talk
